The unique character of A. Lange & Sohne watches is rooted in the illustrious history of the German state of Saxony. In 1845, Lange was founded by Ferdinand Adolph Lange, the uncontested founder of Germany's precision watchmaking industry, in the town of Glashutte, near Dresden.
Lange timepieces are endowed with in-house designed calibers. 46 Lange movements have been launched since 1990. With very few exceptions, all parts of a watch are produced in the manufacture. Even the pulsating heart of each mechanical timepiece- the balance spring. Only very few watchmaking companies in the world have this ability.
Every single part of a Lange movement is decorated by hand with a meticulously applied surface finish- even parts that no one will ever see again. This extraordinary focus on craftsmanship means that only a small number of A. Lange & Sohne watches can be manufactured each year.
