The Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar watch (ref. 5140J) features a mechanical automatic movement; perpetual calendar complication with displays for the day, date, month and leap year by hands; moon phase display with day/night indicator; sapphire crystal, transparent case back that is interchangeable with a full back; and 37.2mm, 18k yellow gold case on a black alligator strap with an 18k yellow gold deployant clasp.

The Patek Philippe 5140J incorporates a new version of Patek's most well known movement: the Caliber 240 Q, an ultra-thin, automatic perpetual calendar. The timeless elegance of the original ref. 3940 case, first released in the mid-1980's, was adapted in this larger, more contemporary size with a diameter of 37.2mm (as opposed to the 36mm case of its predecessor).
