Cartier Watches
Cartier is widely recognized for changing the way we look at time. When Louis Cartier introduced the Tonneau watch to the world in 1906 he was convinced that timepieces for men belonged on the wrist and not in the pocket. The Tonneau is the earliest watch designed for this purpose.
In 1910, Cartier introduced the first wristwatch with a deployant buckle, offering wearers an easier and more luxurious way to fasten their wristwatch. Two years later, Cartier introduced the Tortue, again expanding the way the world viewed watch shapes. Today we see the influence of these innovations throughout the watchmaking industry.
