An Homage to the Man who Changed Our Perception of the Natural World:
The choice of bronze for the case pays homage to the well-known ship, HMS Beagle, that carried him on his expedition to the Galapagos Islands. In those days, bronze – which is non-corrosive – was used for portholes, fittings and nautical instruments. In keeping with Darwin’s realization that “nothing is more constant than change”, and depending on the use to which it is put, bronze develops a patina in the course of time and darkens in colour, giving the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Expedition Charles Darwin” its own unmistakable character
