Portuguese Hand-Wound Eight Days Steel (IW510202)
The IWC Portuguese Hand-Wound Eight Days (ref. IW510202) features the Caliber 59215 mechanical manual winding movement with an approximate 8-day power reserve when fully wound; black dial with applied Arabic numerals; date aperture at 3 o'clock; small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock; sapphire-crystal, transparent case back, displaying the beautifully finished movement and power reserve indicator; and 43mm (12mm thickness), stainless steel case on a black alligator strap with a stainless steel deployant clasp.
It Needs Winding Less Than Once a Week
The Portuguese Hand-Wound Eight Days leans heavily on the purist design of the original Portuguese in the 1930s: arched-edge front glass, railway-track-style chapter ring and feuille hands together with a small seconds dial at “6 o’clock”. To retain the characteristic symmetry and simplicity of the dial, the designers positioned the power reserve display on the watch’s movement side, which is decorated with Geneva stripes and can be seen through the transparent sapphire glass.
