Ref #: 1579R
Chronograph Manual Rose Gold (1579R)
Rare Patek Philippe Chronograph watch (ref. 1579R), featuring a mechanical manual winding nickel lever movement (bi-metallic compensation balance, 23 jewels, 8 adjustments); rose-colored dial with applied Arabic and printed stick markers, outer minutes/chronograph track, outermost tachometer scale and sunk subsidiary dials for small seconds and 30-minute register; 36mm, 18k rose gold case with snap on back, downturned angular lugs and two rectangular chronograph buttons, on a brown alligator strap with 18k rose gold ardillon buckle. Case, dial, and movement signed Patek Philippe.
Production of the reference 1579 started in 1943. The large case and unusual lugs make it one of the most desireable and unusual watches made in the 1940s. This particular example is especially rare due to the rose dial colored dial rather than the more common silvered dial color.
