Description

Sweep. Snap. Repeat. The Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds strips everything away to reveal its mechanics, with a complication that refuses to sit still. Its retrograde hand sweeps across its scale for thirty seconds before snapping back to zero and setting off again. The complication takes centre stage against our fully skeletonised HMC 251 self-winding calibre. Did we mention it comes with a steel bracelet and a khaki rubber strap?
Instead of a traditional seconds hand that rotates once every 60 seconds, the retrograde seconds mechanism follows an arc and resets every 30 seconds, with the seconds hand swiftly returning to its starting position.

With a design inspired by measuring instruments and speedometers, the open retrograde mechanism is a standout feature. Completing its journey every 30 seconds, it offers an exciting kinetic and choreographic spectacle.

The HMC 251 is a self-winding calibre evolved from our HMC 250, coupled with a retrograde mechanism developed in-house. Fully skeletonised and equipped with a gold rotor, the movement has been designed with particular attention to symmetry, creating a harmonious and balanced architecture.
