The J12 collection from Parisian luxury house Chanel was launched in 1999 by the brand’s chief designer, Jacques Hélleu. Named after the J-class 12-meter racing yacht, the J-12 was crafted as an elegant sports watch made of ceramic. (Back in the late 1990s, a ceramic case was fairly novel, giving the collection a sense of novelty.) Since that time, Chanel has acquired a stake in Kenissi, the movement manufacturer founded by Tudor and used by several brands including Breitling, lending it even more credibility in the watchmaking space. 

This particular J12 from the 2020s is about as beautiful and elegant as a ladies’ sports watch could possibly be. Housed in a 33mm white ceramic case with a sapphire crystal, a stainless steel and white ceramic cabochon crown, and a unidirectional rotating timing bezel with a white ceramic insert, it features a white ceramic dial with applied Arabic and indices, a matching luminous handset, an outer minute track, and an inner ‘railroad’ minute track. 

Powered by a quartz movement, it comes paired to a white ceramic multi-link bracelet with a spring-loaded deployant clasp.

The case is in fantastic condition overall showing faint signs of wear from gentle use. White ceramic dial with applied black 'Arabic' indices is in as-new condition with matching handset. White ceramic cabochon crown.
