WHY WE LOVE IT

It doesn’t take a Heuer fan to recognize the “Steve McQueen” watch.

Launched in 1969, the eminently original Monaco was powered by the legendary Calibre 11 automatic chronograph movement, the first of its kind. Popular with racers and enthusiasts alike, the watch reached mythical status on the wrist of every guy's secret man-crush, Steve McQueen, who selected it as part of the attire of his character Michael Delaney in the 1972 racing film, Le Mans. (Side Note: if you haven't seen this film, make it your number one priority in life!). The connection between Heuer and McQueen was forever cemented, and the Monaco lives on today in various modernized forms — and with much of the same appeal, aesthetics, and pedigree. 

This particular Monaco is a modern version that celebrates the brand’s connection to Gulf Racing and features their iconic livery. Housed in a 39mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal, and a signed crown, it features a lovely sunburst navy, light blue, and orange dial with applied indices, a matching handset, and a triple-register chronograph layout. 

Powered by the automatic Caliber Heuer 02 movement, it comes paired to a blue and orange leather ‘rallye’ strap with a signed, push-button deployant clasp and features a sapphire exhibition caseback. In outstanding, as-new condition, it also includes its factory goodies.

‘Iconic’ is an overused term in horology, but if the word applies to any single wristwatch, it certainly applied to the Heuer Monaco.

OVERALL CONDITION

The case is in virtually unworn, as-new condition showing only faint wear from careful handling. Luminous sunburst navy blue exotic 'Gulf' livery dial is in as-new condition with matching handset. Signed crown. Sapphire exhibition caseback.
