DETAILS
The case is in outstanding condition overall showing only very light wear consistent with age and use. Non luminous blue sunburst Sigma dial is in excellent condition with with solid gold indices and dauphine handset. Signed crown.
Includes integrated 18k yellow gold brick-link bracelet with signed locking clasp. Also includes papers dated 1980.
WHY WE LOVE IT
In 1968, Patek Philippe released the Golden Ellipse. Debuting eight years before the iconic Nautilus, the Ellipse—with its distinctive oval shape—was unlike anything else in Patek Philippe’s catalogs.
At the start of the 1970s, Patek expanded the Ellipse line to include squarish case shapes - immediately dubbed "TV Cases" or "Jumbo" by enthusiasts. This example, a Reference 3739/002, is one such "Jumbo" Ellipse - and its a beauty at that!
Featuring a solid 18k yellow gold case with integrated woven bracelet, this 36mm slim cased wears significantly larger on the wrist - due in no small part to its oversized dial, thin bezel, and significant heft. With a jaw-dropping blue sunburst Sigma dial, applied indices, gold dauphine hands, the real heart stopper is its incredible integrated brick-link bracelet, finished in solid yellow gold. With papers dating from 1980, this amazing watch will change your mind about so-called 'dress' watches forever.
